Searching for a NON non-stick Fry Pan

Any recommendations for a regular (not non-stick) 10” stainless steel fry pan. I’m tired of trying to cook on medium heat on an electric glass top stove. Basically, the temperatures are low and high. Trying to get a non-stick fry pan hot enough to really sizzle just doesn’t happen. Ideally, it would have high sides.

Cast iron isn’t recommended for this glass top stove.

I first bought the 10" ceramic pan and have GREAT luck with it. I use it when I don't use cast iron. I wouldn't call it slippery-smooth non-stick, but just a dab of butter before you put your eggs in the pan keeps 'em from sticking.

Liked it so much I bought the 12" pan. I've had both more than a year and they seem to be holding up well. I use 'em all the time.

I'm hesitant to give you bad advice but I think you can use flat bottom cast iron on a flat top. Not the kind with a raised ring. I should have looked it up first. Be right back. 🙂

I do use flat bottomed cast iron on mine. No problem so far.

@Jules, I completely misunderstood the type of pan you want. LOL, I was thinking non-stick. You couldn't have been more clear, but my head is on backward today. 🙃

Yikes! I made the same mistake. But the ceramic pans I linked to aren't really non-stick, though they come close. I use them for all manner of things, but if I sear meat and want a Maillard reaction (fond in the bottom), I'll use my stainless pans, smoke up the kitchen, and set the smoke alarm off.

Farberware still makes stainless steel NON non-stick frying pans.

I have a set that will turn 50 years old at Christmas and the frying pans are still shiny inside and don't stick.
Do you cook? Just kidding. I wonder if they have Farberware in Canada. My Paderno pots are stainless steel and I’ve had them for 25_+ years. The company was bought out and their fry pans are no longer SS.

I cooked in them exclusively until 2011 and then they were used 4-5 months a year in the RV.

I'll never give them up. The S.E. bought an expensive set of very very thick and heavy stainless a few years ago and while they are very good, they're so darn heavy it hurts my wrists to use them, especially when they're full.

Anyone have preferences for stainless steel.
About a month ago I bought a 4-quart saucepan from Tramontina. It's stainless, and I like it a lot. Heats evenly, though stainless takes a bit longer to heat up than aluminum.

Might want to consider this 12-incher from Tramontina. Price is very reasonable, it's a tri-ply, and if it performs like my saucepan, you should be in good shape.

I made note of the suggestions here and headed to Amazon.ca My head is overloaded. I really miss being able to go to a store and pick up a variety of stainless steel pans to compare them. Last week I did that with the non-stick just to compare brands. Stores prefer to sell SS in sets.

I also have a glass top stove and it does get hot. I have a large enameled cast iron dutch oven, but the bottom is NOT enameled. I did scratch the glass top trying to move it, but not badly. My other enameled cast iron pan has enamel on the bottom, so it's easier to move.

The bottom of my stainless steel pans are sandwiched copper and steel, get very hot and I need to keep the heat low.

Thanks. I’m going to check out some of these. It’s a good point to consider weight. Lifting a full frypan is not easy.
I would like to use a cast iron frying pan, but even if I didn't slide it on my glasstop, it's too heavy for me. My 2 enameled cast iron pieces have handles on both sides, so much easier to lift.
