Here is the original with singer Dinah Shore . I sure do remember this.

The new version recently released.

The new version leaves something to be desired vocally. But I would imagine any singer worth their salt wasn’t going to get paid enough money to sit up there on that cliff with the wind blowing and sing. Still in all, it’s a nostalgic idea that I do like. Just not near as much as I like Dinah Shore’s version.

My parents watched the Dinah Shore weekly. I remember the commercial advertising Chevrolet. Years later, I would still sing the opening lines of the song sometimes when I saw a Chevy on the road.

IMO it would have been smart to turn down the
opportunity to go toe to toe with a legend.


In those days the reveal of the new models was much anticipated.

I remember the local dealers closing the drapes on the show room windows and having invitation only cocktail parties on the night of the big reveal.

I agree. I heard the song come on tv before I saw the commercial. It was a disappointment.

I really liked that commercial with Dinah Shore.
There was another from that era for Plymouth, but I can't find it.
"It's a Plymouth", sung 3 times as the refrain.

I still remember watching Dinah Shore doing that live on TV … thought of her when the new version came out.

I don’t care for car commercials that glorify destroying the natural beauty of our nation just so a person doesn’t have to hike stroll a few hundred feet to get a good view. If we all did what that Chevy owner did the location would be ruined inside of 6 months.

I also dont like commercials that depict men, especially husbands, as ignorant buffoons. I won’ t buy a product that tries to shame me because of my gender. And I certainly won’t buy from a company that thinks I am some sort of macho, woman abusing jerk. I think some of these marketing types must be very bothered by their conscience.
