Seeing live comedians does you good

A few weeks ago, we went to see Gary Delaney on stage. My word it did us good, he is very good. At first I was shocked at just how crude and rude it all was but soon I was roaring with laughter like everyone. Wonderful to forget political correctness and just laugh at life. Forget the grimness of our existence.
My favourite was Jim Davidson a few years ago, I thought I would die laughing so hard. He really is the best. I loved Al Murray too and we have tickets for Peter Kaye next year.

Which comedians are your favourite especially seen live? Theirs is surely the hardest job and they must be some of the cleverest people on earth, with phenomenal memories.

I haven’t seen any famous comedians, but I’ve seen a few and had a good time .

When I was first hired by Metro Toronto Ambulance in 1977, my first station assignment was to the old Coroner's building on Lombard Street. Three doors down the street was The Old Fire Hall Comedy Club, the home at the time of the Second City comedy troupe. Second City at that time had an outstanding line up of ( mostly ) Canadian talent. John Candy, Dan Ackroyd, Martin Short, Andrea Martin, and a number of others that I can't remember right now. My day shifts ended at 7 PM and the show started at 8 pm, and I think the door price was $3. I would see the first show, then head home to get some sleep. Great improve skits. John Candy was a towering talent, gone far too soon. JImB.

Yes now comedians are not so funny having to be very PC...the fact is those comedians like Jim Davidson, who were not PC in any way , were the funniest...Peter Kaye is fabulous as is Ricky Gervais.. but still the latter 2 are reigned in... jim however altho' pretty much not permitted on TV these days due to the PC brigade is still available on Youtube with his own channel which he records from home , which I have on my faves..

I've seen Joan Rivers, Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, Don Rickles, Chris Rock, Henny Youngman, Allan King, Jack Benny. May have been more, that's all I remember off the top of my head.

My father laughed so hard at Don Rickles; tears streaming down his face, bent over with laughter---I worried about his survival! Never saw him laugh so hard; one of my favorite memories.

I love Jim Davidson, he is still utterly non PC. Master of his craft. Ricky Gervais is a genius in producing fantastic comedy dramas - have you seen Derek and Afterlife? However, I am not keen on him as a stand-up on stage.

Al Murray has a phenomenal brain. Top of his game. Peter Kaye is totally a family favourite.

How could I forget seeing Jackie Mason? He was so funny I thought I'd never stop laughing. On Fire Island saw revues of gay comedians. They have their own circuit.

I really can't bear Al Murray, he gives me the creeps

I only saw one comedian in person, and it was the crudest one of all! George Carlin, but I loved it and roared with laughter.

When someone in the audience would shout out one of his routines that they wanted to hear. He'd yell back something rude and insulting. "Bleep me!" Or, "Bleep you!" Before the show started, you heard someone remind the audience that they can buy souvenir tee shirts. He actually read what the tee shirts said on them. One was the F bomb. I remember thinking about where on earth would I wear a tee shirt like that.

For intellectual humour...I love David Mitchell... he's such a greek, but he's got a brilliant and very quick Brain....and Lee Mack is very funny too.. watching them on Would I lie to you is hilarious...

Love David Mitchell, a marvelous man - have you seen Upstart Crow! So good, with Liza Tarbuck who is a lovely actress.

I saw a comedian at the Comedy Club downtown or in the flats. I'm not sure who he was-can't recall. All I know is that I laughed so hard at all of his jokes. It really was a great time for me. I've got to do that again some day.

I like a lot of comedians that are on tv. I can't even name them all but they are on sitcoms.

We used to love going to comedy shows here in town. A group of us would go.
Gallagher (the watermelon guy) was always a fun show.

TV comedians....George Carlin, Don Rickels. No cussing was required, and they were still hilarious.
There's a couple of other guys, but can't recall their names.

This new lady, Leanne Morgan is pretty funny.

When I read the title I thought this was going to be a joke about how dead comedians don't talk.
But since it's about comedy live the only live show we've seen is by Josh Blue. This is a sample his comedy.
