Seeking Scandinavian Tour Recommendations

My sister and I are considering an escorted tour of Scandinavia late next summer and there are SO MANY companies and tour operators offering trips! We don't want just a coach tour. She loves trains. We could do boats but do NOT want a large cruise ship (horrible thought). I am wondering if you have a company, or named trip to recommend (I checked with Admin - it is okay to ask) OR one to caution us against. 10-14 days would be a sufficient trip for us. I would love some interaction with locals besides just a waitstaff. We want to keep the price under $5K. (I know - that could be tough and for the right trip - we could make a stretch).

I don't know how you feel about cruises. I hate large ships, but love short cruises on small ships.

We went on one a few years back and had a wonderful time. Lovely change to see countries from another angle rather than being on th road.
