Seems I have high cholesterol and pre Diabetes markers

I rarely go to the doctor, so I just have little info to give. I have type 2 in my immediate family, and when tested by my doctor years ago, my A1C was over 6, in 2019 I had a free glucose test at Costco, and it was 5.6. Ideally, diet and exercise will help those with diabetes. I've never been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. I haven't changed much in my diet, and although I joined a gym and exercised more before coronavirus, I haven't been there for a long time. I only walk daily with the dog.

I've been taking supplements like Bitter Melon and Chromium Picolinate, recently bought some "Ceylon" cinnamon, but it's very expensive. Everyone should research supplement side effects and drug interactions, and ask their doctor before taking anything.

Kudos to those like @Ruthanne, who have improved their health by working hard and making hard lifestyle changes. Much respect.
we do the best we can...i walk a little dog too

Beans are an important part of the heart healthy Mediterranean - this "Blue Zone" diet (those areas of the world where people live longer than the rest of us) consists of plant based protein (mainly), olive oil and fruits & veggies as well as whole grains. It also has been shown to reverse metabolic syndrome:

It not for diabetics like me although I love fruit and beans and rice; they are all blood sugar nuclear bombs

However, you can have naturally high cholesterol. My daughter was vegan for 20 years and has been a vegetarian for the last 18 plus years. She has high cholesterol and so do I but I eat cow, chickens, and an occasional pig. 😊
Yea but if you eat your cow and chickens - - there goes your milk and eggs !!
BTW - - I hope you haven't given your cow a name. Makes her a little sadder to consume.😩

I eat a lot of eggs, but no mil—yuck. Nope, I only have owned dogs. But all cows have the same name in my fridge-hamburger. šŸ˜‚

Any tips on naturally lowering Cholesterol and Blood sugar levels?

A guy I like to watch on YouTube said it is the 'triglycerides' that are dangerous, not all cholesterol. It has only been one year so my experience is limited, but starting last December I have been careful to eat not more than the equivalent of 3 and a half teaspoons (14 grams) of "added" sugar per day. Food labels were changed some years ago to list 'added sugar' and that is very helpful. My triglycerides were a little above the normal range before I reduced my sugar intake, and since then they dropped to right in the middle of the normal range.

Berries are low carb and fine for you and most diabetics, right? We had a low carb/ diabetic friendly food manufacturing company. Still cook and bake a lot this way. Use Monk Fruit Lakanto erythritol (all natural sweetener) for sugar replacements in lower glycemic foods. Also replace with almond meal where I can for son to eat (he's obese).

Strawberries are ok, my doctor pushes them, and you can add the ā€œfakeā€ sugar to them.

I want to thank all you members who have replied here with advice about this post.
I will go through them all again and take notes so I might be able to begin to make changes to my lifestyle for the better.
