Austin, Texas, among many other cities tried defunding and look t what happened. Crime rate up faster than their population growth. Other large cities also defunded, I mean they actually took money away from police budgets and in everyone that I just finished looking at here online, the city's crime rate went up, including rapes and murders. New York City cut $1bil from the police budget, lost cops, crime rate is up, way up and so it goes in most major cities. Defund actually means defund. Neither new York or Chicago can hire officers because no one shows up for the interview. BTW, murders in Austin are up 200% this year.To be clear: "defund" does not mean taking away funding from the police. It's a very unfortunate choice of words. Defunding the police is more a way of "re-arranging" the budgets so that there are specific duties for specific needs in each community and funds allocated for them as necessary. For instance responding to a fender-bender traffic accident wouldn't bring out a SWAT team...okay, that's a little extreme, but hopefully you get the point. In our county we already have a separation of many duties within our police departmet. When there's a fender-bender or someone runs a stop sign, the officer(s) responding are in vehicles that are marked "vehiclular response". There are others marked for drug enforcement, burglary, etc., and the funds are allocated accordingly.
I've probably muddied the waters more than cleared up anything!
Yes, it's amazing how we introduce guns to kids at such a young age:I have many friends and family who are crazy about the second amendment. I am not one of them. We've created a society in which everyone believes that they need a weapon. Children are arming themselves and joining gangs in grade school. Every television program, movie and video game is permuted with gun violence. We encourage it, then put the perpetrators (often nearly children) in prison. Assault weapons are just the tip of the iceberg. We need to seriously reduce the availability of guns in all areas of American society or be prepared to live with the deaths
It would be really great if the US would introduce Democracy and then no one will need to resort to a gun.I understand! Sad place we live. Thankfully I haven't resorted to a gun.
There are three things destroying the US:
1). The drug industry
2). The weapons industry
3). Poverty
Only one is imported. If the two domestic ones were eliminated the import problem would dry up without lifting a finger.
"Nuclear families" in the US often drug together, shoot together and are destitute together so that is definitely not "the single most important reason".I think you have left out the single most important reason ie; the near total destruction of the nuclear family.
You might consider not leaving it in the truck.Like the adage goes, "When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns." I wouldn't leave home without it. In some cases, like going inside to church, I will leave it in the truck, otherwise, I have it inside my waistline. There it is undetectable.
Noah couldn't have built an ark without a hammer and Americans can't go on their daily shooting sprees without guns. Guns in the hands of Americans is like matches in the hands of children....... "People are not the problem....it's those damn guns!" ........
What do you mean "almost"? There's a high school shooting in progress right now! The US needs more guns! Too many schools and not enough guns!
Exactly.Timberview Tx. 4 injured.![]()
The same three words that I'm sick of:Three words I'm sick of:
1. Conversation, as in: It's time we had a national conversation about the price of raisins.
2. Community, as in: Today the one-right-legged community will speak; tomorrow the one-left-legged community will kick off the conversation of the no-legged community.
3. Research, as in: Do your research, you're as smart as anyone who completed 40 years of study.
I most strongly disagree."Nuclear families" in the US often drug together, shoot together and are destitute together so that is definitely not "the single most important reason".
You are not safe in church, considering how many mass shootings there have been in places of worship in the US.Like the adage goes, "When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns." I wouldn't leave home without it. In some cases, like going inside to church, I will leave it in the truck, otherwise, I have it inside my waistline. There it is undetectable.

The perpetrators of these mass shootings are obviously not thinking rationally. I wonder if some of this is due to meds these people are on. I have seen first hand the terrible behavior changes that some of these meds produce. I know a young woman that started taking anti-seizure medications and gradually she went from a quiet, friendly person to one that had explosive anger issues that she acted out so much that every person that knew her was talking about it. Finally, she quit taking the medication and is now back to who she was before.
This may have nothing to do with the problem, but it certainly makes me wonder.
Almost every young school shooter is on Prozac or some similar antidepressant. Along with Ritalin, they are prescribed like Skittles. There is a reason they come with warnings about causing homicide or suicide. The perpetrators of these mass shootings are obviously not thinking rationally. Arrogance has nothing to do with my response that you have just now quoted. What you've just said (if I put it into simple terms) is that the only reason you say I am ignorant and know nothing about the US is that you disagree with me. Your reply isn't motivated in the slightest. This is what you consider "debate". Would you care to qualify your above statements or are you going to chicken out?You don't know anything about the US and your posts reflect that. Ignorance combined with arrogance is an unstoppable combination.
Sorry, but you seem to know nothing about the US. Being black, or a gang member, or meds or mental illness, or evil are not the basis for mass shootings but merely the consequences of the feelings of helplessness in a nation of ridicule by the flaunting, advantaged rich. Most of the recent mass shootings involve black teenagers opening fire more or less at random in gang-related events. So, unlikely that meds are involved. As to some of the other events, well, meds may be to blame. Sometimes it's mental illness, sometimes it's a brain tumor. Sometimes I'm afraid it's just pure evil.
I think there's more to it than that. Which police departments were defunded and where have many mass shootings occurred? Many mass shootings were by people from middle class families and neighborhoods...places where such occurrences "couldn't happen". Many other killings were in areas no doubt with reduced police presence as you stated. This article gives statistics on mass murders based on the category of crime and perpetrators by race. The text beyond the stats is very interesting, but not surprising.Well Diva, The people who took over power debase, defile and defund the police departments. The few who remain have an enormous disincentive to go into the high crime areas. So, Those with an undeveloped intellect and maturity want to test their parameters.
IMO
You are right, but out of respect for the Lord, I have decided to take my chances. You are not safe in church, considering how many mass shootings there have been in places of worship in the US.
The reason is often simple but it's made to look complicated by an intentional labyrinth of red herrings, scapegoats & patsies. That's why the perpetrators of really big crimes seldom get punished.Like most complicated issues, everyone has a simple solution.
What cases would that be?The reason is often simple but it's made to look complicated by an intentional labyrinth of red herrings, scapegoats & patsies. That's why the perpetrators of really big crimes seldom get punished.
