Senior Centers are great once you are retired with nothing to do.

Attitude is the top one. When your attitude goes, you are dying.
Yes, attitude is so important, much more so than body, physical appearance, hairdo, etc. As long as someone is neat and clean, who cares how old they look; not me.

Classes are a great way to meet others. At least you have something in common.

@officerripley If those people were playing bridge, it’s very intense while playing. It’s good for keeping your mind active. You play 2 or 3 boards, finish & chat, & then move to the next table. Chat with another pair. There’s visiting before & afterwards.
No, they were playing pinochle. And there was absolutely no chat or visiting whatsoever; and as I said above, the few who made the mistake of having the nerve to use the few minutes of refreshment time to quickly grab a refreshment were glared at 'till they plunked back down and picked up their cards again. So that much grumpy intensity over a silly card game was not my cuppa; I never went back. Buncha killjoy types obviously to behave like that; I mean, hello y'all, this is a recreation center? o_O

Yes, I found one senior centre (over 1,000 members) just a bunch of women gabbing around and very hard to get into a community when most there have been together for awhile and I am shy and reserved. They did have a class on brain health that I attended and still belong to the website but I just couldn't get into so many people. I did try a smaller centre but the pandemic hit and now that hubby is retired, I was going to see if he would go with me.
It can be intimidating at first, but go ahead and go to eat lunch or something and then go home. But, even if you just do that, you are bound to make friends, and chit chat a little and maybe even want to go play dominoes or something. It is worth it!

There are people who make life not enjoyable, but there are some there that probably feel like you.

So by that, do you mean they need to look (body), think (mind) and act (personality) like a 20 (or 30, or 40) year old?
People who go to senior centers usually have a lot in common or if they don't, they enjoy being around people their age. Upper 60's-90's.

That could be but they may feel like they need to act like the others so they fit in; that's understandable, I think.
No, that is definitely not the case. Quite the opposite. No need to "fit in" as a senior. Some or alot of them don't care anymore, just want to go and play cards, pool or something and have a lunch and maybe one to take home too.
