Senior moments......things we noticed as we get older.

I was stirring a cup of tea today, or was it yesterday, no, it's early hours now, so I must be stirring it tomorrow, am I going bonkers, I seem to be spending forever stirring tea........ good job I love tea. 😊

Two things...

I can no longer tolerate noisy places. Any high-pitched sound penetrates my eardrums and distracts me. We went to a restaurant on Thursday when my partner was off work. It was so noisy that we couldn't hold a conversation. He is only 56 y/o, but he said it was not his idea of a relaxing day off. At 64 y/o, it was even worse for me. I will forego the food quality for a nice, quiet ambiance.

Almost anything can create a nasty bruise on my hands, arms or legs. We have handle-style door knobs in our house and they have become my enemy.

I looked all over before i started this thread, so i wasn't repeating anything.

I've noticed i tend to put more lights on when doing something, the kitchen for example, when cooking, baking etc.
Recently, i've been somewhat chilled at night, i have just been using a Vellux blanket, nice and light, has been warm up till now.....so i added another Vellux one over top......still light in weight.....that warms me up now.
During the seasons which require the furnace heat.....the few chilly days we had, i've set the thermostat at 24, usually have it at 23.
During the air conditioning season.....this year starting.....have set it less cool.
If not yet bruising easily will at some point happen. Like the need for more warmth the layer of fat under the skin surface depletes as we get older. less fat under the skin leads to needing more warmth. It's nature doing it's thing:(

The amount of body fat goes up steadily after age 30. Older people may have almost one third more fat compared to when they were younger. Fat tissue builds up toward the center of the body, including around the internal organs. However, the layer of fat under the skin gets smaller.

I noticed the need for more warmth & bruising easily so I looked up why. There are other references to the why of bruising & need for heat but posting one seemed like enough info.

When you’re old, getting lucky is walking into a room and remembering exactly why you’re there.
When you’re young you make a lot of noise just having fun. When you’re old, you make even more noise just bending over.
I’m so old I can remember when emojis were called hieroglyphics. A wise man remembers a woman’s birthday but never her age.
I’d like to say I’m ageing like fine wine but in my case, it’s more like a fine banana.

When I was fifty I gave in and bought reading glasses when I ending up spending $10.00 on something I thought was a dollar. My face always looked the same when I was younger, now it takes a lot of facial exercises for me to look like me. Discussing age depresses me. It never used to. Death makes me cry more now as I know I am getting older and older and closer and closer.

I, too, am having problems with being warm. I always wear a sweater, otherwise I'd be cranking up the furnace. And I've been having problems sleeping. I wake up in the middle of the night, and I 'm sweating and hot. I mentioned this before in here, and someone told me to drop down the thermostat_ DUH!!! It worked. I remember thinking I'd never be one of those old geezers. I was determined that would never happen. Now, I'm the damn poster child of geezers.
