Sent an application for direct deposit

For my pension checks. I posted a thread about this previously, but it was deleted. I did receive a check Thursday, so apparently it hasn't taken effect yet. When I contacted the retirement bureau, they said it could take several months to go into effect. I don't know what the hold-up is - all they have to do is type in the info I sent.

yes, I am glad you are setting that up but it taking months does not make sense. A couple of months, I understand, if longer you need to contact your bank, financial institution.

I was like you. did not want to do new things. After my husband passed, I got the first debit card, now the bills are on autopay. I still get hard copy statements in the mail for review. I only have one bill now, the credit card, where everything is charged. I pay this in total every month, it allows me to have a double check on the charges, file a stop pay or complaint, and best of all I get cash back every month on my purchases.

For general information for people who get Social Security checks direct-deposited;
If you need to change them to a different account in a different bank, they do it very quickly. The next check, or the one after that, will go to the new account.
