Sept1...the unofficial 'End of Summer'...

Back in the days when we suntanned and went to the lake every weekend, I hated it when the end of summer arrived. It doesn't matter (to me) now. Anything I can do these days, I can do anytime of the year, except if roads get bad from winter accumulation of ice - that part I will always hate.

September first, football season is in full swing, Volleyball season is here, gun shows around here happen in September, Kids are in school.
Soon I'll be able to shut down the sprinkler system, winterize the mowers and get ready to rake a lot of leaves.
Fall has always been my favorite time of year.
I can still smell burning leaves, but they frown on that these days.

Well, the end (of summer) is near and will be here before we know it...the leaves will turn, the flower heads will dry and fall, dogs will chase chipmunks into the fallen leaves and we will turn the clocks back. Carved pumpkins will appear on doorsteps and unseen ghosts in long white sheets will knock on neighorhood doors begging for candy.

Are you ready?
