"Set in your ways" or "Been there, done that"

I love technology! Discovered computers in 1990 and have been hooked ever since, especially when the internet became popular. Didn't get a mobile until 2000 when I moved to Scotland so never called it a cellphone. Have an ipod, android, tablet, netbook, had a laptop, kindle, and got my first digital camera in 2000. Webcam in 2005 before first grandchild was born. So technology is not an issue for me. But I do have habits that are not changeable. Everything belongs in a certain place and should not be changed! Drives dh crazy.

My sister, however, is a serious technophobe. She's decided it's all too hard and too complicated, but very slowly she is coming around.
 

Self checkouts: I sometimes argue out loud to the voice that keeps nagging at you.

"Please scan the next item, please do this, please do that...."

I know self-checkouts are all about speed, but geesh, gimme a break!:eek:nthego:

Unless they are going to give a discount for acting as a cashier I refuse to use them. If they tell me to use them I look all confused and they come and do it for me. It's not about figuring it out it's about big businesses chincing on something as basic for any business like taking money.
 

I drove a police interceptor for over 30 years. When I retired, I wanted to buy a VW Jetta, but it wouldn't move fast enough and at 6'2", it was a little tight. So, I passed on it and bought a Chevy Tahoe. It's very comfortable and moves pretty well for a big SUV.
 
Being a bit of a technophobe may not mean you are set in your ways though surely? I like new technology and so on, even though am not that good with it sometimes, so I think it's mainly being afraid to get to grips with it. Some people are really set in their ways, and always change the sheets on a Friday, or go shopping on a Monday, or go on holiday to the same places [even the same hotels.]Maybe always cook the same things too. I'm not like that at all, I want something different.
 
Bit of a Luddite, myself. Don't have a smart phone....my dumb phone works just fine for me. I have a Kindle but found that I still love the feel of a book in my hand too much to use it. My car actually has roll-down windows and doors that you have to....gasp....put a key into to open. I can't ask questions of Siri in the car, so I have to talk to myself. My computer doesn't have a touch-screen. I'm hopelessly out of date and not a bit apologetic about it.
