I admit to being an Anglophile. I enjoy the trooping of the color, but I am not a Royal watcher by any means. What ever we may think about royalty, I remember Elizabeth well from WWII. I only know her from incidental news items since. She gets a lot of static because she's a queen when its gone out of fashion. She seems to me to be a good person performing the role she happened to be born into with great dignity. I wish her well.

She is well respected in Australia too and is probably the reason why we have not become a republic yet.

I remember the death of her father, George VI, the coronation of Elizabeth II and her first visit to Australia.
We saw all of it on the cinema newsreels because TV had not yet arrived in Australia.
Newspapers covered everything with massive pictorial spreads and people collected them.

She could well be the longest ruling monarch in the
World.

Her mother lived till she was 101 years old, so maybe
we will have her for a long time to come.
