I got rid of my pet door. I had a cat, Turkey, who used to drag live mice into the house, and drop them in the bath tub for future fun and games. I can't tell you how happy I was to walk into the bathroom, and see mice jumping up and down in my bathtub.

A woman owned a small dog & she had a pet door. A neighbor had a pet snake - a 9-ft. Boa Constrictor that escaped, crawled to the neighbor's house, through the pet door & unfortunately killed & ate the dog.

I had a cat come in mine once. It took one look at my four Labrador retrievers and departed mo-rickety scratch with all 4 dogs in hot pursuit. The cat got away safely.

I had a pet door for years w/o much thought to what could enter ... finally decided one day to close it off for good.... Was hearing too many bad stories and decided not to chance it anymore.

Since I live in an apartment complex I didn't have a "doggie door" for my cat. I never trusted those things anyway. I always felt that if a person was thin or small enough, he/she could fit through those things. And worse yet, a creature such as the ones previously posted about. That lady was blessed (that she wasn't killed) and brave! I even hate the thought of having to go through with rabies shots!

Don't they have electronic pet doors that will only open if a device on your pet's collar is near it?
