Sheer Curtains

Does anyone use sheer curtains for window dressings anymore or are they old fashioned? I remember in the first house my family lived in, my mom had sheer curtains under the drapes in every window but the kitchen. I have three 60 gallon trash bags filled with them and can't give them away. Just made me wonder.

All but one window has Top Down-Bottom Up blinds so we mostly can have privacy anytime we want. The office is dark & needs the blinds open in the daytime. It faces the street so I put up a long sheer curtain that obscures the vision of anyone looking in.

I still use curtains under my drapes, but they aren't sheer they are Batiste. No one can see in but I can see outside.

Raising hand. We do. in fact this new (to us) house just got the sheer curtain treatment. We have real venation blinds for privacy or in case the setting sun gets too intense, but, we rarely use them.

I use an embroidered sheer panel (very subtle vine pattern) under my heavier linen curtains in my living room to soften the bright sunlight, offer a little privacy at night and because I don't like my window frames. Also really like the contrast between the subtle lace and coarse linen.

Deboden, I have a suggestion..think of who needs fabrics and doesn't mind that it's used fabrics.

Look up costume makers on your computer. You'll find website like rubies.com and several others. I don't know where their actual costume makers are located, but maybe you'll find one or two kind of local ones who'd be interested in taking stuff like curtains and blankets off your hands.

And maybe there's some craft-makers and quilt-makers on Etsy who'd be interested.

People like that might buy it off you or at least pay postage.
