Shopping for a new keyboard

I'll do some more testing tomorrow, before I request RMA of the motherboard, but BIOS corruption(reason unknown) is my prime suspect, since I cannot enter Setup or Boot Menu.
If resetting the BIOS to defaults doesn't help, you could go to the support page of your computer site and download the BIOS software and reinstall it.

Speaking of computer support ... you might try them for assistance with the problem. They might not RMA the motherboard without jumping through some support hoops anyway.

All that said, not sure I understand what exactly you are up against and likely wouldn't be able to come up with a resolution without hands on anyway. Besides, I think you know enough about computers to figure out the problem area ;) Good Luck

Nathan, just buy a whole NEW DELL PC! Life is too short to waste time.

@Mitch86, but this is my hobby, and I have numerous desktops, laptops and tablets that can get me where I want to go. That said, I do have a nice Dell refurb sitting in my Newegg shopping cart: newegg.com It's a nice one don't really have a need for it though... 🤔

@Naturally , I found a couple tutorials on forcing a BIOS reset on Gigabyte motherboards, was all set to do an indepth read:
How to fix corrupt BIOS ROM with BIOS Switch (BIOS_SW)? - GIGABYTE Global
How to force Gigabyte motherboard to boot in the backup bios by shorting pins on the bios chip?

However, I had relocated the machine to my test bench, hooked up a display+keyboard and powered the system up. Immediately got a display! Plus a message that the BIOS had reset. It fixed itself, that's one of the reasons I guess is why Gigabyte motherboards have a dual BIOS.

Update: Not fixed. However, I did find the problem. Not a corrupted BIOS like I suspected, but was nevertheless a BIOS anomaly that, for reasons still unclear, just recently manifested. During the POST boot up process the monitor would remain blank, until it started to load the operating system. This due to some high end monitors and video cards. I had an old[old, old] 17 inch monitor that I hooked up and voila! can see the POST process and was able to get into the BIOS. I had downloaded the lastest BIOS version and prepped a USB drive, so I went ahead and flashed the BIOS with the latest version. Life is good. bOe_ktIX_XK7l0l4Vt2v.gif

For the last several years I've had to use a large print keyboard due to failing eyesight.
I like the "EZsee" keyboards, but eventually the characters wear off the keys. Now the "e" and the "n" stick, which gives me more trouble than I already have, so I'll be getting a new one. Anyone have a large print that they're happy with?

got maybe two shops that sell keyboards in town - wait forgot the PO they are doing more of that now - WW used to but started selling those cheap chinese versions with wrong keys set in them? the furniture store that sells em to has young shop keepers who don't keep up to date - I've tried questioning them and caught them out multiple times - yes highly technical world with lots of gadgets - my GD came of an electric scooter the other day and broke up arm bone - all fun heh - beware of chinese keyboards

now just wondering - when typing letters on yahoo mail my pc struggles to keep up with my fairly fast blind keyboard skills - very frustrating - BUT when I return to this site no problem full synchronization - I reckon yahoo is stuffed heh?

Sorry your eyesight is failing you Doc! I hope your vision will at least be stabilized where it is. 🤗

To play with the lighting, you'll need Corsair's iCue software. My iCue talks to my kbd, mouse, and gets telemetry from my Corsair power supply.
Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't aware of the need for using software to control this keyboard; I should have read the negative reviews. I use Linux and there is no iCue download for other than Windows and MacOS, so I cancelled the order.

I've had keyboards coming out of ears. Finally took a bunch to the dump. Every time I updated my gaming computer, it would come with a keyboard, always hardwired. I've got too many wires on my desk, so i use a Logitech blue tooth. I'm not into recommending stuff. That's just what I use. Once you get used to a keyboard, another often feels awkward.

Well the keyboard is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, Tuesday the 15th. I hope with being backlit and having mechanical tactile feedback it will improve my typing, probably won't help my spelling though.

I like the EZ See Yellow keyboards USB plug in hard wired. Comfortable like a dell with all the functions.
I have wireless Bluetooth but get tired of adding rechargeable batteries. The mouse, wireless is enough.

BTW disregard my post #41, I cancelled that keyboard, instead bought this one- ET Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB Backlit Keys

Yesterday a big brown truck stopped in front of the house and threw a package into the yard and sped off. Got a "delivered" notice, so I figured it was the keyboard and not Ricin or explosives. Nice! I like the mechanical feel...a lot! All the Fn features and RGB options are straight forward. A good value(47 bucks), now maybe I'll look for a replacement for my 15+ yr. old Beige Microsoft mouse. :p

Is the mouse still Beige?

My EZsee worked very well for a long time. The yellow keys with LARGE print greatly enhanced my typing ability.
When it became weary, I replaced it with an Adesso which is very similar.
