Yes, the entanglement of nightgowns. Hate that.

Since a few of my pajama tops button down, look like blouses, I can quickly jump into jeans, and throw a jacket over my PJ top to take Doggie out post haste.
 

Suggestion if you are going looking in Target or Walmart,,, look at the men's ware.
Long sleeve T- shirts,, flannel shirts should on sale.

Pick a size that looks like it will fit, hold it to your chest / shoulders.

So what if the sleeves are too long,, take them home & cut sleeves to length you want.
You do own a a pair of shears?

Check the Dollar stores ,,might find something there.
 

I'm in the "don't like nightgowns" camp. They never fail to bunch up and end up under my arms. That doesn't do much to keep me warm or comfortable when it's cold. I gave them up decades ago. In the winter, this is what I sleep in, thermal underwear.

I can remember assembling my "trousseau" and getting several of the pastel "chiffon" nightgowns. What a nightmare they were! The outer layer of chiffon would twist in one direction and the inner layer of nylon would go in the other. I'd end up feeling like I was wearing one of those "Chinese handcuff" thingies (you know, the woven straw tubes that you put one finger in one end and another finger in the other end and when you pulled, they tightened on you?)

It took no time at all to decide to go back to cotton nighties, the heck with sexy!

Oh, that's nice! I like the blue... and when I loaded it, I got a popup offering 40% off an item if I sign up for email. I have a separate mailbox just for things like that, so I think I'll do it. I've never shopped at Appleseeds... I'll see what they have. Thanks for the suggestion of a new place to shop, ladies! (y)

I remember that Deb. Do you have thrift stores in your area? Might be worth a try.

If you find what you want, you may have to pay more than you wanted. But if it's what you feel comfortable in, than it's worth it.
 
Sometimes you have to figure the cost per wear. If you buy something and paid more than you wanted but wear it many times over the years, the cost per wear is nominal.
On the other hand, you save a few bucks and get something of lesser quality or less to your liking you may end up wearing it less and/or giving it away then you have paid more in the long run.
I've bought things high quality from stores but got little wear, so it ended up expensive.
I've also found things at thrift stores that were pennies since I wore them many years.

There is a fabulous plus size catalog called Woman Within https://www.womanwithin.com/ and to my recollection they do take checks. Have a look at their catalog.

Last night I was wearing an old tunic. It had 3/4 sleeves, no buttons, slip on. I thought it would make a perfect nightgown for you, and it's easier to find the sleeves you want in a tunic.
 
Funny thread. I also have been looking for a nightgown. I had a beautiful nylon ankle length gown for at least 35 years. Made me feel like a beauty queen. Finally wore it out. Nothing seems to compare…
