Shoprite's Website Is Making Me Wait In Line! WTH?!

Shoprite is having it's annual Can Can sale. I went to the site to check the sales circular and see when the current sale will end. Before I could even see what's on the page, the following notification popped up telling me I have to "wait in line" for 37 minutes! This is so ridiculous. Have you ever seen a website do this?

My local CVS has drastically cut jobs. Drastically. Wouldn't be surprised if ShopRite is cutting employees too. Since covid, the big companies see they can do without customer services that once were part of any shopping experience. When we need jobs, jobs are being cut. Not by Mom & Pop.

I have no idea what type of shop 'shoprite' is.. but we had this during the summer lockdown with a lot of our stores particularly the D-I-Y ones where we weren't permitted to shop in store.

The idea is that the wait time is the length of time you have to wait before being allowed to log on to the site.. then you get an hour to do your shopping and check out ( we had as long as we needed with some stores after we logged on, and only an hour with others)..you have to ensure you've got everything you want in one session otherwise you have to wait to log on the next time again...

Then at the end of the session it tells you what time to arrive at the store to collect your goods...

This is absolutely ridiculous. The wait time doesn't even address the reason you are trying to access their website. So, I'll just go to Wegman's. I like them as much as Shoprite.
"The wait time doesn't even address the reason you are trying to access their website." Right! I shop most often at their affiliate store which I can walk to, but the sale on what I want is over at that one. My son has to either take me to Shoprite or pick up items for me.

Thanks for your comment Holly. I have never experienced this wait time nor heard of it before. Maybe this will become our new normal, too.

(ShopRite is the name of a chain of supermarkets.)

Shoprite is one of the largest supermarket chains in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. I had no intention of shopping online..I just wanted to see the sales circular. I wound up just giving my son my short list and he shopped for my items. If I missed a sale...oh well.
