Shops I miss from years ago

Yeah- I remember my mother would take me to Kresge's and Woolworth when I was very little, to do Christmas shopping.
Kresge's had a wonderful food bar with a full upstairs kitchen and I would always get turkey, stuffing, great gravy, string beans and a little dip of cranberry sauce. My mother would only get dessert and it was a homemade apple turnover with a fabulous creamy sweet sauce.

I didn't think I would like it, but tried it and I can still recall how delicious it was and it is something I could never quite duplicate myself.

Ten years later Kresge's started selling hoagies, 3 for 1.00 and they were not very large but highly tasteful!

Gee, a quarter used to get me an Archie Comic, and quite a few candy bars. Or see a movie in a movie theatre.

I miss Kmart. I loved that store. Around Xmas, they had the "Blue Light" specials- super sales on stuff. I remember being in the aisle of a Blue Light special. I got mobbed by people rushing to get a deal. For some strange reason, Kmart felt homier than Walmart. Walmart seems impersonal and ultra business like. I miss Kmart.
