Shortage of some antibiotics including Amoxicillin

There has been a growing shortage of antibiotics and antivirals including Amoxicillin which can used on children.

Some of these can also be used on the flu and in combinations to help treat the covid virus

That's what I was gonna say. The article says nobody knows why there's a shortage...."probably covid" it says. Then it goes on to say more specifically there's a shortage of the oral solution. I didn't see any mention of a shortage of ingredients, so I suppose drug companies can produce more while doctors prescribe alternatives for a while.

Exactly. If we overuse antibiotics by prescribing them for viruses where they are ineffective then we will find they will become useless for serious bacterial infections.

I am just finishing a short course of amoxillin for an infected tooth and I am very pleased with the way it has cleared up the problem but losing a tooth would not be a major problem. We need our antibiotics for lifesaving situations.
