I need a cemetery headstone engraved in another state...so I sent a quote request this morning to a company I found on 'google'.

Not sure if I should continue with them if they can't spell, although maybe he just needed a morning cup of coffee

This is the reply.

Thank you for the inquiry Joyce , Ill look at monument tommorrow and get right back to you! Bruce

My question is isnt there anyone in your own state and locally that an do this work for you?
" A company I found on Googles" is not the way to go especially if it involves love ones in a cemetary. They know you may be grieving and will take full advantage of it.

Davey, I'm in Pennsylvania and the grave is in Massachusetts. Death was in 1986. At that time I was told a family member was going to take care of the headstone.

Recently a former neighbor emailed me that it was unfinished when she went to see her parents grave...so I'm trying to do my part.

Apparently, he doesn't know spelling or punctuation.

Now that I look at it again, he doesn't know sentence structure, either. Better find someone else.

PA-grandma, I would call the cemetery where your loved one is, and ask them for the name of someone they know and trust. They are bound to have several, and this might help you with the matter of cost.

I got an email this morning about the headstone.

The engraver sent me a photo of the headstone in question. It is in bad shape, needs cleaning and then only the date needs to be placed. I've told him to go ahead. He will send me a picture of the completed project after doing so, along with his bill.

The cost will be $130 to engrave, plus $150 to clean, which might sound high..but the stone was installed in 1964 when his wife died....fifty years ago.... and has never been cleaned. I'm satisfied.
