Should I have a Christmas sale?

Now that my husband has passed away, I don't think I'll be doing any decorating this year. I'm going to have a large yard sale in the spring and I'll put the Christmas/Thanksgiving decorations out then and see what happens.
 
Christmas decorations are one of the most difficult commodities to sell at a garage sale. In the summer when it's garage sale season, people aren't thinking about Christmas. Then when Christmastime arrives, its' cold weather (at least in my locale) and people don't want to stand in someone's freezing garage.
 

deb, if things are getting ruined by mice, it's time to donate them. I'm sorry no one has shown interest. Your father Christmas doll is very charming. I'd keep a few things and donate the rest or try the flea market if one is running winter time in your area.
 
Cute stuff. If you have the sale, let us know how it went. I like the deer stuffie with the Mr and Mrs Clause. It looks vintage. Well I guess all your items are.

Donate the rest are you serious? Anyone else would consider either the 1st. or 2nd pics as a few things.
 
Could be several factors:

Established families and older people already have what they need.
Younger people want new store-bought things.
People are economizing and/or don't decorate as much as they used to.
I have nothing that interests people.
The weather was crappy.
I advertised it as an indoor sale - people are wary of having to enter someone else's home. When I was at my former house, some people wouldn't even come up on an open porch to look at things.

All of the above. At least you get exercise moving those few items.

I was at our little independent downtown thrift store this morning. A woman was saying to one of the volunteers that she brought donations there and also put things out free at her mother's assisted living home after she died. She called her a bit of a hoarder. Anyway, she said the ladies grabbed those freebies like crazy.
 
I only sell items that I can at least get 20 for. Everything else gets donated because it’s not worth my time. The fake plants might be wanted by a nursing home.

They probably were taken. Sometimes people just need to see something to realize they like it, especially for free.

I will assume people took the items also. And that's good. You probably brightened the day for some people.
