My car is winter gray like the one in the photo. I wanted a white car for visibility and being cooler in summers, but this was the best available. My previous car, a Honda Civic, was dark green and I painted it white (with Rustoleum paint and a roller). The winter gray has been fine, but some people do tailgate. Thus I'm considering to paint the back bumper for more visibility and safety on the few occasions when driving. One vote, can be changed.

My tailgating solution always works.
I simply gradually slow down; no brakes. Within a few seconds, the idiot behind me always changes lanes & passes.
A few years ago, a tailgater stayed behind me. When I saw a cop in the opposite lane, I honked & pointed behind me.
The cop quickly made a U-Turn & pulled him over.

I'm afraid it won't make any difference to the folks that insist on riding your bumper.

Here in the UK it's illegal to tailgate. You can face a £100 fine and 3 points on your licence ( 12 points is an automatic ban)... not to say that stops people, very often but it does prevent it happening less than it might

We have a rules of the road book, which is called the Highway Code .. and in that it say everyone must maintain their distance from the driver in front for 2 seconds.. to be able to brake safely in the event of the other driver braking suddenly

if when you're driving along the road at the national speed limit, look at a pole or a tree or something on the side of the road.. and count 1 AND 2.. that's the distance you should be behind the driver in front..

Nebraska has that also, but I never saw so many accidents in my life as all the cars that rear-end other cars in Nebraska.

Personally I don't think people are that good at calculating a distance covered in two seconds. Or it might just be me, but I don't have any intuitive feel for it and there is no time while driving to be playing around calculating it as described, too many cars merging, changing lanes, too many changes in speed, etc.

When I was learning to drive the rule of thumb was to allow one car-length of space for each 10 mph of speed, I don't know why that method was abandoned, I feel like it is very easy to tell how many cars would fit between my car and the car in front of me.

Most people here have no problem counting to 2 between an object that the car in front has passed, and us passing it ourselves.. at the national speed limit it means if the car in front brakes suddenly there's enough time to brake hard without hitting the car in front..

Perhaps if the people of Nebraska faced a penalty point system to their licence they might be more keen on following rules..

Here in the US some states use the point system as well but ......... I have yet to see a car/ truck etc that starts with a drivers license .........

here many things they can suspend or take away your license ..... but if you have keys and access most are back on the road .......
in my area people who are selfish and ego driven think they can squeeze in when people are simply following the distance rules for safety ........

laws/ rules etc............ have zero impact without ........... significant enforcement and consequences.

I do the same, just slow down. If they're really bad, I pull over into a driveway or on the side of the street to get rid of them. They terrify me.

if you drive with a suspended licence or on a Driving ban here and you injure someone... you go to prison

Well i am glad the UK is on it..... but like i said many places here that is not a reality.

Unfortunately paint probably will not make a difference with those who drive recklessly ..... while i do admire the cute bumper stickers getting hit is not a money maker and most likely just a headache dealing with insurance and possible injury ....
i try to avoid them like other posters ..... slow down so they pass ...... even pull over or off road waiting for certain drivers to pass etc.
