Should the man have let me go ahead?

I don't think like that.
If I took the trouble to drive to the recycling place and then was in line and it was going to take twenty minutes I would stand there with my cell phone doing a crossword or if they had wi fi, checking this forum. I have already wasted time so what's another twenty minutes. I use the 60 cents or in my case 1.20 on another purchase.
Point taken. Since it was only a 60¢ transaction, I assumed she was at the recycling place while running other errands, rather than thinking managing these recylclables was the sole reason for her outing.

Gas for the trip probably cost more than 60 cents. I'd do something else with the bottles, donate them, or something. I've got enough errands to run without standing in line for 60 cents.

I always try to plan a trip to pick up stuff . Multitask it.
My friend claims he is so impatient. So what I tell him to do if he wants to cultivate his impatience is to go to a busy store and pick the longest line . That's an exercise in patience for sure. Now we have to stay 6 ft apart so the lineups are a lot longer. :geek:

Yup. I combine errands for a single outing. Plan a loop with groceries as the last stop. Hubby does the same. Especially nowadays.

I'm excluding home projects that get more complex as they unfurl, necessitating DH to make numerous trips to the hardware store within a few hours. No aspersions being cast here - I've had plenty of cooking/baking projects that have gone the same way.

Oh yeah

The unforeseen of a repair
It necessitates immediate resolution while the thought pattern spins in the ol' bean
A needed 3/4" washer head philips screw can bring things to a halt in a hurry

The hardware store guy no longer greets me with 'hello'
It's more like 'what now, Mr O'

Not so much anymore
I now have my own little hardware store

Well do I remember when we bought our first house, an old house that needed a lot of work done on it. Otherwise, it wouldn't have cost $17,000, would it? Dumb young things that we were, we thought we could tackle anything.

Every Saturday involved multiple trips to the hardware store to ask, "Does this come in a bigger size?" as we tried to cover up what we had just messed up.

The old guys at the store would just start laughing as I walked in the door...….
