Should women be allowed to go topless?

yes but greek statues typically show mens' *******s ...but you wouldn't want to see men walking down the street with their parts on show would you?:D

We have a small replica statue of this at home, lol.

Not in Prudish Canada. They wouldn't know how to handle it! Canada is still figuring out how to label bathroom doors so that all bathrooms are "inclusive". They have no time for bare breasts. Labeling bathroom doors is a lot more important.

In Canada we have a clear sense of what is important and what is not important. If you ask me, I would label them, "Bathroom 1" and "Bathroom 2." I figure that is pretty GENDER NEUTRAL!

No I would not. However I would not want to tell other people what to do, so long as it wasn't harming someone.

If "men walking down the street with their parts on show" becomes common I am sure I'd avert my eyes at first. But then likely get used to it. I would hope it doesn't happen.

well that couldn't happen here.. because we would be excluding the dyslexic.. and those who are illiterate... so nice little figurines... are placed on the doors....*sigh*

A bar I used to frequent had signs on the doors, men and woman, with a small arrow pointing to the other door. So the one that said women was actually the men's room and visa versa. Had a lot of fun watching embarrassed first timers. Not sure how to do that with the gender neutral thing...

Also when I was a student I shared an office with several other guys. One of them put a sign on our door that said "women", got some real surprised ladies walking in. Don't think a gender neutral sign would have been as much fun.

Another overly broadly posed thread title.

topic title:

Should be:
Should some women be allowed to go topless sometimes in some places?

There is a difference between being mostly naked on a popular public beach and walking into the county courthouse dressed so for your jury duty date or during a heat spell visiting a public pool full of young children. And numbers of unique situations between these extremes.

Generally I prefer women to cover up more with clothing more than in this current Western media driven era by "sex sells" driving all matter of telecom media. And that reality would only become more negative by allowing even more nudity and crude media. In any case, am a "Let It Be" person as long as whatever isn't against laws, annoying, a nuisance, or in your face.
Sorry, but your "Should be title" totally misses the point. It has nothing to do with certain places, or your preferences, or jury duty. The question I asked was: "Should women have this equal right recognized by law everywhere, or should it just be the right of a man?" That is the question. It's not even about, should every woman do it.
Many men have breasts larger than many women, and they are allowed to let them hang out whenever they please (As long as they are not in a place with a dress code (Such as jury duty), but a woman may get arrested for it. That appears discriminatory, and unequal rights. That's the issue in question.

Well said David...

Glad you think so.
However, I was putting the wish to see public nudity for women in that category.

It is for women themselves to decide that... not a male.... certainly not you !!
Never mind. I really need to realize that reading comprehension is not everyone's strong suit. My apologies.

Should women be allowed to go topless?

It seems like a strange question, “Should women be allowed to…” and a type of question that doesn’t sit well with me. It feels a bit possessive, a bit controlling. Everyone regardless of gender has an ability to do what ever they want, pretty much. Or at least where I come from.

When I read in the news on a number of occasions that a man in the UK walked the length of the country naked, because he legally can, I struggle with developing an opinion on whether a woman should be ‘allowed’ to go topless or not. I really couldn’t care less, other that do it responsibly.

As for what other countries should do, I’ll leave it to them.

The only advice I would give is don’t do it around children, and don’t get sun burnt.

I don't know. I DO know we need a completely new design of bras into something comfortable!

I do many bronze sculptures of nudes; male and female and my clients are generally APPALLED that
I would sculpt nude figures! I see nothing wrong with the human body and I will continue to sculpt
as I want!

Thank you for your apology bobcat.. The reason I said this in my post

Is because despite my putting up a video on the real meaning of Equal Rights for Women ( Post # 97) … the best you could do was give a stunted meaning from Webster’s Dictionary

Above are two more videos to enlighten men who don’t know what it is all about and really should take the time to find out.

Just for the record....
I do not see anything wrong in women or men wanting to be free of restricting clothing or going without, if that is what they wish.

However, do not lump this with Equal Rights for Women.

You're preaching to the choir here. I see nothing wrong with any advancement of women's rights, and I totally understand what it's about, and I certainly have no desire to diminish any of it. In addition, I am not even advocating that women everywhere should do it. All I am doing is asking the question: Is it fair to allow a man to walk around without a top on but not a woman? If she chooses not to, that's fine, but it seems like she shouldn't be discriminated against because of her gender. Perhaps it doesn't matter a hill of beans to you, and that's fine too. It's just a question that is popping up in state's courts, and there are age old laws being questioned because societies norms are always changing.

Is this payback because I asked you not to PM me anymore?

I think what you are trying to say is that this is something I would typically post regardless of who PP might be referring to. Your PM request to me is inconsequential here, and are two separate and different matters.
