Some of my happiest times were camping, hiking, fishing (trout), and swimming in different places on the mountain range. ♥️

I spent my some of my summer vacation when I was 12 camping at Castle Crags State Park in Castella. My Dad was welding on a new bridge over the Sacramento River in Dunsmuir ( about 12 miles north ).

Mt. Shasta was visible, being about 50 miles north

I could go fishing and totally forget "time" I loved it so much. ( that's not me :) )

Your Dad was a welder? Very good profession. I bet he never had a problem finding work.
Yes. He was an Iron Worker. He worked on really big structural steel buildings/bridges...whatever. He worked for Bethlehem Steel, and became a foreman. He was tested to be a welder on the bridge over the Sacramento River. Only the best could work on it. I am mighty proud of my Dad.

There was a time when men took pride in their work. Seems a thing of the past these days. I was a Welder and Fabricator for many years. For the most part I built ships. I was a 1st Class Specialist. I never had any trouble finding a job. I spent a few years traveling around the country on my motorcycle. I could work a while make a chunk of money and move on to the next adventure. I saw many things on the open road. Some of the best times of my life.

Yes. This is the only pic of her that survived the fire. To Add: The original image is in color but the right side was overexposed so I gave it the aged newspaper effect. Changed it to black and white. Only time she broke down in all the miles I put on her was when the drive chain broke. Luckily I always carried a spare.

Same landscape as OP, south-southwest towards East Vidette in Sequoia National Park. An extra large 24,000 by 6900 pixel 7 column 3 row 21 frame stitch blended image downsized for web herein.

Another nearby image of Bullfrog Lake from 2013, 16,000 by 6050 pixels 5 columns 3 rows 15 frames stitch blend. The above photo was shot from just below the mid frame saddle at the left end of the lake along the side of the canyon. About a 6 mile hike climbing 2800 feet over an 11.8k pass.
