Signing Signature Pads

Using my finger to sign those electronic pads is a waste because it is not my signature if ever compared to my written one using a pen. Comments?

It is impossible to produce anything that does not look like a squiggle.
Anyway that seems to be thing of the past with covid.

These days all I think about are the germs I may be picking up on the tip of my finger.

It seems like snapping a finger print or photo would be a better use of existing technology than a squiggle.

I suppose it’s just a holdover from the past that will disappear when the law catches up with technology.

I find it impossible to duplicate my signature on a signature pad.

We need a way to indicate that you have legally consented to something, so the squiggly line works. That's what I've been told. I think it's dumb. How could you prove, in court, that squiggle was made by me, and not a cat? There are still some businesses that have the slips of paper to sign, when you use a credit card. Why? Is there some guy in a back room checking every signature to ensure it's genuine? Get rid of the time consuming ritual from the 1950s credit card biz.

I consider it archaic when we have to manually enter our CC passcode when paying. Tap is great.

Oh, yeah, the fingertip signing...sigh. The other day, I get an email that I needed to check in online for an upcoming appointment with a new doctor. Well, okay, I've done that before, not a big deal (I thought). Welp, I get all done with it (I thought) and now it wants my signature done with a fingertip, told me "place finger HERE and sign." Okay I kept trying that, nothing would happen, wouldn't let me go forward or back, AAAAGH! Welp, turns out that since I was using my old-fashioned laptop rather than a touchscreen tablet or computer, I had to click first & then I could use my fingertip. Some days...

My handwriting has always been pretty distinctive. Signing that electronic pad is just a scribble. Now I don't even try to make it look like anything. I have noticed there is less and less to sign for.
