Signs of things to come ?

I would like to add another thought....for every political slam (Republican or Democrat) that is made, generally a few cringe. This is a very friendly forum and politics is an extremely rough subject. Wasn't there a debating forum recently created for just that?

Whoever came up with the idea that you don't discuss politics or religion in public had the right idea, IMO and JMO.
I started Speaker's Corner in the Groups section to allow people to discuss subjects that might become a bit heated. Robust debate can occur there but if things get personal I have warned that the topics will be deleted. When I think a subject might upset people - gun control comes to mind - I start the thread in that area. Anyone can join the group if they want to.

As far as I am concerned politics and religion are topics that adults can discuss rationally if everyone respects the views of others.

Thanks Warri, but I'll take a pass. I don't enjoy debating politics, although I try to stay well informed on what both parties are evilly up to. Political arguments are an even worse destroyer of relationships than religion. At this age, everyone has firmly established beliefs and misconceptions, and most discussions on the matter come to no good. As long as I enjoy talking to you in general, I couldn't care less what your politics are.

This is my short take on politics...all politicians, are liars, cheats and scoundrels with no one's best interest at heart, but their own, regardless of party. I don't support the idealism of either major party, as their only real agenda is to stay in office to continue to have high roller contacts that will line their pockets for favors, and pander to the lowest common denominator for votes.

Now, if anyone disagrees with my take on politics in general, leaving party lines out, I'll meetcha' in the group for further discussion upon invitation. You bring the drinks:playful:

Well said, Ozarkgal, and we have 3 parties!
Bring on the box on the voting paper which says 'a plague on all your houses'.
