Signs that make no sense

Busendorf means "bosom village". This one is a village in Northern Germany. There is another one some 12 miles away from my village.

This is a real sign in Louisiana, Baptist (French pronunciation) and Pumpkin Center are small towns close together.

There is a road sign in Utah pointing up (straight ahead) to Paradise and left to Eden, both small Utah towns. Someone used to add one pointing down to Purgatory (not a Utah town), but the highway department always took it down, no sense of humor. I don't have a picture, you'll just have to take my word for it.

I'm not sure how this might fit into this thread. Some British place names!

But I supose they could seem not to make sense to visitors to the UK. Place names.
The beauty of a long history of being invaded by the Romans; Angles; Saxons; Jutes; Vikings; Norman French, and anyone else to wanted to take over the land and introduce their own names from their own far off land, or mix words with our own.

Some of these place names (and many more besides) aren’t instructions or directions to find a particular type of person, in case you were wondering?
