Since my ankle injury I have shed an appreciable amount of weight.

That's good news! I think you hit the nail on the head when you said about not having access to fast food. Whenever I've eaten fast
food in the past, it just seemed that the pounds would creep up. Don't eat out now like I used to. Noticed it's easier to keep
the weight off.

Forced to stay at home and cook my own meals. Difficult hobbling around so meals are as simple as can be.
Even something as simple as sardines on toast.
I was on antibiotics for two weeks which seemed to suppress my appetite somewhat.
Plus changed my diet to attempt to lower my cholesterol numbers.

8kg, 17 lb.
Simply being laid up at home for 5 weeks. Not having access to fast food and the like.
A blessing? I am a bit overweight and I keep thinking about the severe case of diarrhoea I had whilst in Burkina Faso. I ended up eating nothing but mangoes for a couple of weeks and lost a LOT of weight. I secretly wish for another bout.

It is a blessing for sure. Same thing happened when I was diagnosed with Cirrhosis 30 years ago, I lost 10kg, 22lb in 2 weeks.

When I lived in a student commune in OZ we occasionally ate ... what's it called? ... that weed that grew just about everywhere.

I know what you mean. Hungry Jack’s chooks & chips is difficult to resist.
