Since Retirement, Does One Day of the Week Seem Like Another?

I've noticed lately that a lot of times I have the feeling on Saturdays that it's Sunday. Anyone else feel like a certain day of the week is another day since stopping working and retiring?

I think it's that way for all who escaped 9-5. I know I have a tough time with it but Sunday kinda keeps me straight because I have to travel to out community mailboxes so on Sunday, no mail. But, I do it every once in awhile...

Half the times I don't know what day it is..heck I don't even know what time it is some days.

It gets like that frequently when raising a 17 female and a 10 year old male.:)

The only time I ever really knew it was Saturday was when I was a kid watching the Bugs Bunny / Roadrunner Hour. Other than that, most days have seemed the same to me.

I wish I could afford to retire. I wouldn't care if the days ran together either!

Used to be Sundays were easily differentiated from Saturdays since we went to church on Sun. and usually had a big dinner. Like Phil, Saturdays were cartoon mornings.

School had some subjects on certain days of the week, like; Fri was gym, Mon. & Wed was glee club, etc. So we always knew what day it was.

So, if you stopped going to worship of some kind, don't work, don't watch Sat morning cartoons and don't go to school its anyone's guess what day it is. Relax and enjoy it!

My weeks used to be divided into Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, almost-Saturday, SATURDAY!!!!, and almost-Monday. Now it's laundry day, grocery shopping day, have lunch with a friend day, and stay-at-home-and-wear-your-pajamas-all-day-day. I really like the stay-at-home-and-wear-your-pajamas-all-day-day. I just have to make sure I don't get that mixed up with grocery day or lunch with friend day. And then there are the occasional watch black-and-white-movies-all-day-day and the ever-popular stand-and-stare-at-the-closet-you're-going-to-organize-some-day-day.

Did I ever mention how much I love retirement?

Everyday is wonderful in retirement. I do avoid running errands on Saturdays as that is when working stiffs are out doing their thing. But yes.....most days seem the same in retirement.

I forgot about gym, and yes, it was Fridays - I guess to let the wounds heal over the weekend. :boxing:

Thank Buddha I still have my cartoons ...

A normal week is MWF gym, Tues put bin out. No BBC radio 4 Today programme on Sunday morning while having breakfast in bed and DH may or may not go to mass. Never shop on weekends when all the workers are doing it.

Most days are the same. Dianne goes to Tai Chi on Mondays and that's about the only thing that makes it different. The rest of the week we can do what we want, when we want. Sundays aren't much different here with the supermarkets and major stores being open, some up to 8pm, but we try to avoid Sunday shopping as it's pretty busy. Few people go to the kirk any more.

I second not liking to shop on weekends. Since I work a 4/2 rotation, I don't like weekends off. Hate going to Trader Joe's on the weekend.

I'm still working but I still feel like it's all drudgery. Work days and then doing not much of anything on my days off.

Now that I'm retired, I don't like weekends either. Traffic, shopping, dog park, etc. are so much better during the week days.

To me, in the summer months, one day is pretty much like another including weekends. During the school year when my family are all in school the weekend is different

Here we have another problem (though the businesses love it) called snowbirds. Until summer, lines are longer, Restaurants more crowded, traffic heaver, even doctors, out of states license plates everywhere. I LOVE summer.

I usually do specific things on certain days, and I’m also a list-maker so I rarely have that problem. I’m a TV buff, so that also comes into play (certain shows on certain days). I also tend to check the calendar regularly and I set reminders (on computer and also on phone).

Always know its the weekend because the streets are quieter and everything is more relaxed. No busy business to do.

The only day that I am sure about is Saturday.

There are a lot more sections in the Saturday newspaper.

Mike.
