Chère Madame Lilac:
"anyone else within the government .. different ideas.."
At root, the Ratio of taxpayers and earners to pensioners has fallen from 2.5:1 to 1.7 :1, so, not enough income to support benefits. Only solution is raise taxes(already very high) or somehow reduce benefits. No one wants to swallow this bitter pill.In France we have the left, eg M. Mélenchon and the right eg Marie LePen. In 2017 Macron offered a modern alternative, a new "Republics" party. But Since 2017, Macron has lost power, become hated, and governs with a thin majority of coalitions. Neither left nor right support him. Thus Macron, (who cannot be reelected), he does as he likes and ignores the people.
Cher Monsieur Jules:
"riots and fire are happening, are there simultaneous thefts happening?"
If by " simultaneous thefts " you meet looting, we have not seen this in France as you have in USA. Certainly there are many smashed store windows especially banks, financial, and very large firms by anarchists and "Black Blocks" . In general the level of crime is much less in France that I have seen in USA, with strict laws, good courts and very intense police and gendarmerie presence in Paris.Amicalment,
Jean-Paul
