Unusual produced and presented film - young Swiss girl wants to travel and chooses the old Lebanon and takes a job as a "nanny - the film is a romance film she marries a Lebanese scientist - produced in part cartoonish like you've never seen before and shows the life style in its harmony - Paris of the East days and then the deterioration on this life style to army focused.

skies of lebanon

I've made a note of this, going to keep a lookout for it. Would like to watch it as I lived in the Middle East in the 50s and 60s. I only went to Beirut once - vaguely remember watching some waterskiing competition - but my parents went a few times, it was a very popular place to go for short breaks, very cosmopolitan at the time.

I've seen it also - think you'll enjoy it pam - should be on Utube perhaps?

I was in Beirut in 1966 with a symphony orchestra. What a beautiful town! It put me in mind of Miami Beach or the Riviera. I guess the ensuing war really changed Beirut. Not sure.

After a stint in the US Navy, then in Naval Intelligence my older brother was stationed in Lebanon for a government agency that ‘technically’ didn’t exist. He went snow skiing in the mountains after swimming in the sea all morning.

After a couple of years he came home with a lovely Lebanese wife who tutored and helped my young cousin pass his French exams, and OMG she made incredibly delicious Lebanese dishes.
