I haven't had a purchased latte drink in literally 3-5 years. It's been so long, I don't remember. That doesn't count when I've been stuck doing a double and went to the drive thru place by work for caffeine. That's literally medication.

I was out, wanted to go to PAWS thrift but they weren't open for another 1/2 hour so I had some time. I heard about the Starbucks seasonal drinks. They didn't have the ginger spice listed I wanted so I got the peppermint mocha with soy milk. Small size. I figured 4.50-5.00. Nope. $6.25. I just paid. However, that thing was good. Really good.

But some people do this daily. Really adds up. I might have to get another next week before they go away but I'm sticking with my coffee at home.

Yes, pet food has gone up. I did get the extra Chewy order recently due to the delivery mess up so that's helping me a bit. I have two 7 pound bags of science diet for my girls.

But I also feed 4 ferals at my work place. I feed them Purina One and add some grain free in the winter since it can get freezing or slightly below here and it has lately. They have good weights.
 
I understand the allure of tasty coffee drinks and that it's nice to treat yourself, but I don't buy them. I can easily make a cappuccino or latte if I want one. Once in a blue moon, if I'm out and about, I'll stop at a convenience store and get a small 12-oz coffee for about $1.50. I guess people who buy fancy coffee daily either can't or don't want to be bothered making their own, or they have plenty of disposable income for such things. Whatever it is, it's their money. 💸

Dutch Brothers Coffee (I don't know how wide spread they are) is a bit cheaper I think. They don't charge extra for soy like I think Starbucks does.

We all deserve treats.

I do think people spend on things they don't need to. I see a lot of people going out to get their lunch or even having it delivered. Even when I worked full time, I planned, shopped for and took my lunch to work every work day. I still do. Not that I couldn't spend less on food.

I do buy the non dairy creamers or barista milks. Grocery Outlet Bargain Markets had some soy barista milk down to 69cents for a quart because they were about the expire. I'd got some previously for 99 cents and got 3 more. They are in shelf stable packs, they'll last.

When I worked, I always brought my own lunch. In fact, I would pack it in a Lil' Oscar cooler. That way I could keep it cool and I could also pack a small V-8 juice to have mid-morning and water throughout the day. :)

@Bella I too have a small hard case lunch with cold packs that are probably 25 years old and still re-freeze. Even in the summer I can keep it in my car since I can be in shade until the afternoon so it stays fine in the car. And I eat lunch in my car.

When I used to go fishing with my neighbor we would stop at Starbucks. My order would always be a grande hazelnut Latte, for about $4 something. 190 calories! Well I don't go fishing with my neighbor anymore, and I never go to Starbucks. I do like a good cup of coffee, I buy several dark blends on Amazon in the k-cups for a Keurig.

Is that metal lined? I used to take my coffee to work with me and drink it as I drove, when I did a commute for a year. But I've tried to bring coffee to work to keep in the car and drink at lunch, but it just gets cold and metalic tasting. Seems OK if you drink it within an hour but when it sits, don't keep so well.
 
Nothing wrong with treating one's self to a latte weekly or now and then. I just don't get the ones who bring one to work every day. That adds up fast. And perhaps not everyone is as stressed at work as I am. If I'm going to buy one of them, I want to drink it and enjoy at my own pace. Not slam it in the work place which is not a relaxed place for me.

Example: got asked to work a double yesterday. I flat refused because they had me in a really hard section. I did one last week and my sleep was messed up for 2 days. If there is no replacement for me, legally they can keep me there for 16 hours. I'd have to do the double. But the incompetent scheduler got it figured out.
 
I don't care for the coffee drinks like latte or Starbucks.
I do enjoy a really good cup of coffee with some flavored dairy creamers in it at times. The vanilla caramel, or pumpkin spice is very good. Even just the vanilla cream is tasty. It's mostly when I have guests at my house, or I am visiting family that I treat myself.
Otherwise, give me a fresh cup of coffee, with a bit of milk and 1/2 tsp of sugar, please.
