Smiling at Others

I smile at others I see most of the time unless I forget 🤣 I don't give a big open mouth grin though because of some bad teeth. I think a closed mouth smile is just as good and effective and I know because I get good results ☺️

I’m paraphrasing based on a southern expression I heard today. Wishing I’d been able to write it down.

A few simple smiles with others can change your day. When you’re out and about and you acknowledge others and they respond with a smile, your day improves. I know this is true for me. When I’m walking I pass about 15 - 30 people. There are very few times that we don’t smile or say hello. I used to think it was the walk itself that made me feel better; maybe it’s the other people.
I find it very easy to greet others during a walk with a smile, and I come in contact with many folks who are pleasant and polite, even in stores, etc. Lots of good people in this world, let's not forget them.

I was told I shouldn't smile since my smiles are unattractive (yellow teeth, shape of my jaw makes my smiles look like grimaces, etc.).
I don't know who told you that, but it seems they have more hate in their heart than love. I think if we met each other, even on the street, we'd both smile and it would be both sincere and appreciated. Don't ever change. 🧡

If I make eye contact with a person, whenever, wherever, I just automatically smile unless it is some serious occasion.
It doesn't hurt to smile

Your paraphrasing is just fine. A great expression, and very true!

Smiling causes wrinkles. Nearly all of mine are smile lines (except on my forehead). The wrinkles on my forehead are from raising my eyebrows. I knew that would happen, and I don't like it. I raise my eyebrows a lot, seemingly. So did my dad.

I smile lot, and I figure maybe some people don't see the wrinkles as wrinkles.

Smiling at Others

I once smiled at a nice looking lady, and when she smiled back and walked up to me my heart skipped a beat...... then she put a 'Rennie' in my hand and said, " Here you are, it happens to me all the time too." 😊

You can usually tell the difference between a real smile and fake one by whether the eyes are also crinkling. A fake smile is from the nose down, a real smile is all over the face. Of course, Botox will do that too....LOL.

One thing that delighted me in India: People in India tend to walk along the sidewalk with their faces straight ahead, eyes slightly down. It's such a crowded place and I think they tend to become somewhat reserved and introspective because of that. However, catch someone's eye and give them a smile and a friendly "hello" and watch what happens. The widest smiles come out and they will greet you and quite often want to talk for a few minutes. Such lovely smiles.

Two of my little 'uns have smiles that would make your heart explode. They have 1000-watt smiles that light up a room. It's impossible to be down when you see a smile like that.

Me, I have what's called "Resting B*tch Face". I look like I'm slightly frowning when my face is at rest. And as my face gets older and I get more "jowly", it pulls the corners of my mouth down even further. I think that's what gives old folks the reputation for being crabby. They're not crabby, their faces are! Hmmmmph!

I think maybe it's more because she was a teenager; hope so anyway.
I was also told by another teenager back when I was a teenager myself that I should never let people see me eat because I chewed "like an old woman." So you know, I hated being a teenager; life isn't wonderful now, but it really sucked back then.
