"Smoky" Skies

For the past 8 or 10 days, we have had a lot of high altitude "haze" in our area. The local weather people say this is a result of the huge forest fires along the West coast. During the day, the sky is "bluish gray", and at night there is a "halo" around the moon. If we are seeing this much air pollution from events a thousand miles away, those living in the far Western states must really be breathing in some nasty stuff.

In Colorado we've been getting a lot of smoke in our air from local fires and much is coming from California for weeks now. Yesterday they were giving warnings to those with lung problems should stay inside. There were even lit signs over some highways and roads.

The smoke we have been living with since returning home has to be seen to be believed. It`s just awful! Of course, our fire is still burning-it`s now over 400,000 acres and 600+ square acres. Mind boggling. And then the fire north of us in Redding,CA is still burning as well so we get that smoke as well. And Colorado is getting it too,Seabreeze?? Incredible.

I bet it's awful Mrs. R, feel bad for you guys with all you've been through and what you're still dealing with now. Take care.

We have it down here in Texas also!! Weatherguessers say its from the fires in PNW!!

I heard that Oregon and Washington are having horrible air quality due to the fires. In Seattle they are showing people wearing masks. And up top of the Space Needle you cannot see anything.

Today in the Oregon Coast Range it's not as bad as it has been. I feel sorry for the wild animals. They did nothing to cause this. How bad it is depends on whether or not I get a coastal breeze in off the ocean which is 40 miles away. In the basins around it's worse, like Roseburg and Medford. Medford has been lethally smokey.

The air quality is still rated unhealthy but at least the high temps have dropped into the high 80's, low 90's for a while. Back in the day I remember us getting some nice rainy storms around this time of year. That'd be wonderful if we get some.
