Snow Covered Pal

Looking out my window snow was falling all around,

The cold white fluff was deep, covering up the ground.

I heard a bird singing, his feathers fluffed from the cold,

Understanding not bird speak, he was chirping loud and bold.

Everything snow covered, the sun peeked from behind a cloud,

My friend sat on the branch, what was he trying to declare, so loud?

What do you see, my friend, on this cold February day?

I can hear you plainly, but what are you trying to say?

Then it dawned on me, what he wanted to tell us all,

He was saying we are much closer to springtime than we are to fall.

Warmth is just around the corner, Is that what you’re trying to convey?

Six more weeks of winter and it will be going away.

How do you know this my snow-covered feathered pal?

“That fat little rodent emerged from his hole, with a story to tell.

A month and a half or six more weeks, either could be true,

No matter what you think, spring will be here in a few……
