I got a letter in the mail from Texas, wow, who sends letters. I recognized the name, vaguely, I thought. I open the letter, hmm, religious gobbly gook. How did I get on that mailing list, I wonder. Then I turn it over. Oh my gosh more gobbly gook, but a couple sentences at the top.
Hi. I found your name in my mothers address book. You must be important to her (I wasn’t) but she has passed, and I want to share God’s message with you. HOW VERY KIND. The letter included her address and phone. I called. She is not home.
. Because while she did not recognize my name or know who I am, I know who she is.
Her mother who died is my mothers sister. The last remaining family member of their generation alive. We are first cousins. I can’t wait to talk to her. We played together as very young children. What a wonderful surprise!
