Haven't followed the pat themselves on the back crowd for decades. This is one reason why. Out of curiosity I want to know the actual process and criteria used for nominations. I heard if you are a member of the academy you can nominate a film or person for various awards. If there is no checklist or criteria to be met what do they expect. The public needs to realize in the end this is a trade/professional award ceremony. Maybe more glorified than a plumbers convention but in the end it is about people acknowledging their own peers. Who cares.

Yes, also Haley Berry, Sidney Poitier won for "Lillies of the field" and others. Based upon percent per capita I believe blacks have been represented well.

April, yes, hey if every nominee is AM or Hispanic as long as it's on the merits of their work, no harm but if you have to include sub par performances just to be PC, I am not in favor at all. Speaking of which the Hispanics are never nominated (if they make motion pictures).
