You have to admit that "human beings" don't have much competition. As a species, I'd say....... Education of our young is important to us. Our training programs are designed to provide those with adequate skills to replace those that age out. We have devised a system of "economics", which provides food and other necessities. The system uses the human trait of greed and avarice to become productive. Also the human traits of curiosity and pride are used to advance scientific knowledge. What our species has in abundance is ignorance. We are treading into areas, which no earthly creature has gone. We forge ahead to satisfy wants and needs, completely disregarding the consequences. While wars seem to be inevitable, their carnage, so far, has not curtailed human reproductive rates. Again a resilient species. The species will probably not go back to its hunter gatherer roots. But, if civilization collapses, farming will be the bases to create a new society. I doubt we will ever loose farming. As time progresses, I believe humans will continue to become more civilized, and may evolve into a complex society, which we can't even imagine today.
