Worst species to ever live. Once we're gone, all other life forms on Earth, except those that live on/off us, will be the better for it, as will the Earth, itself. We have fouled our nest, poisoned our food, air and water, killed untold millions of our own kind and other species that formerly shared the Earth with us. We have been around for around 2-300,000 years. We'll never come close to the dinosaurs' 180 million year reign.

I would say our brains and our potential for improvement.

It depends what you’re looking at....a bear is better at surviving a winter outside than we are, especially without clothes. :)

But we’ve figured out how to adapt and we keep doing it...it did take a very long time to evolve to where we are now though.
Yes, I agree. It takes a long time for improving for all species. Thanks.

I voted for 'needs work'. I think we could be doing much better after all this time, it seems like we're destroying ourselves with poisoning our foods, water, air and plants with chemicals that cause cancer and other ailments. Greed has overcome common sense in many areas, IMO, our intelligence seems to be of little benefit overall. We could do so much better if we respect other humans and mother earth, but I don't see that happening any time soon. Also, animals kill for survival, we kill for selfish reasons or hatred, never a good thing.
I fully agree. Thank you.

Humans that try to lead productive and responsible lives, and not be a burden to others, unless old age or illness slows them down, are the "good guys", IMO. The criminals, terrorists, and those who think "the world owes them a living", can all go for an extended swim in the ocean. There is probably 10% of the global population that makes things difficult for the remaining 90%.
Thank you and noted.

oh, do I ever understand. Thank you.

What do I think about humans beings? What else can human beings be like, except human? You have to understand that in evolution for species to survive to evolve are the ones who carried the traits that made surviving possible. And what traits would that be? Yes, I have read that early who humans we have evolved to be finally us did somewhat mate with the Neanderthals.

In fact, I've had read that in the European populations, at least, most have a small percentage of Neanderthal DNA. So why did our ancestors of who we are now, survive? It seems to be the most aggressive and violent are the ones who finally survives. Makes sense somehow, doesn't it? We can still see the same in us now, can't we?

However, for species to survive, there needs to be more nurturing and loving aspects of a species, otherwise, what happens to the babies? So we are somewhat of both. And just maybe that part of what is human will help us survive. Otherwise. I personally would do not have a great deal of hope about where homosapiens as a species is heading.

The current issue of Smithsonian, that I haven't read thoroughly yet, has an article about how the humanoids may have interbred with the Neanderthals, & have reported before the possibility of different species combining to form what became today's "human" after the evolutionary dead ends died out. So there is probably still room for improvement, give or take a few dozen thou yrs.

According to 23andMe I am 2.7 Neanderthal. So you have all been warned.

As a species I'm not too happy with the way humans have treated Mother Earth. What other species leaves garbage and filth in our beautiful wildernesses?

I think we're pretty good as a species because we can feel and show compassion to others, both of our own species and lesser ones. Every few millenia we experience a Renaissance where understanding, tolerance and art flourish. Our last was in the 1960s. :)

Hopefully, another period, like the 60's, will come along, soon. Mostly, today, I see intolerance, pettiness, back stabbing, terrible things that make me doubt that our species will last too much longer.

Best species since as a species we have the ability to change. Understanding that we have choices as opposed to plant life or carnivorous animals works for me. Hard to imagine our species becoming extinct replaced by programmed AI. I'm happy with the diverse way we are.

Really?
I’ve got so much to say about this but not a lot of time currently so I’ll get back to you on this one.

Yes really. Without diversity who would you pick for all mankind to be identical to? And why?

Animal life naturally fights for survival. Even one celled animals protect their lives. Some humans are born more warrior like, because they evolved to protect tribes. Outcasts from tribes went on to seduce tribe members with a promise of individuality. This is a tempting offer, because every life is primarily concerned for itself. The price paid is slavery. Instead of working for each other, we are working for overlords who control the narrative through propaganda. People were convinced that their independence is better than community. They also think they too will be overlords someday. We separate ourselves from each other at our peril and give the advantage to the deceitful.

The internet has helped illuminate this predicament. We can research a world of information. We’re no longer limited to microfiche and word of mouth. We can compare notes and agree that we have been duped. When the youth are through escaping this nightmare through video games, I think they will want to turn things around. However, antinatalism is on the rise, and US birth rates are at a 30 year low. The realization that life is only what we make it may cause would be parents to balk at burdening a child with reality.

I think at least half of them are true examples of nature's carelessness.
