Sockies!

I love to wear socks in the Winter. I've got all kinds but I've noticed some are very worn. So I bought some new thermal ones that are very nice and colorful. They are short. I used to wear the knee highs but they don't make a lot of them anymore, at least they are not advertised as much as the lower kind.

So, do you like socks and what kind do you have/buy?

Sockettes. Those are the kinds of socks I like also.
I’ve got fun colourful ones and plain black, grey, blue, brown etc.

I used to wear sports socks and / or wool socks but now can’t stand them. Especially wool. They make my feet itch and sweat constantly in them

Yes I have loads of socks, similar to those in your pic, Ruthanne... also I like Swedish style socks...like these...

but always ankle socks, never knee highs

I just bought two pair of wool socks because my feet get cold easily. Expensive. But very comfortable and warm. Hand wash only cold water.
I have a couple of pair of angora socks my sister n law got me some years back. They are very pretty.

Got em' for all the holidays with cooler or cold days....somewhere around 25-30 pairs, including camel hair from Mongolia...they are sooo warm and comfy :)....wearing my autumn and h'ween socks this month ;)

Actually own this pair and another one similar ~

Love them!

I really do hate to wear socks/hose/footies and didn't for years, but with the numbness in my toes and feet, I really have to keep friction at a minimum.

So...….socks it is. I usually wear the ones that don't (or barely) show but it's hard to keep my tennies from "eating" the socks on a regular basis. I'm constantly hitching them out of my shoes.

One thing I do is take a pair of white cotton athletic socks and cut them off below the heel, leaving what I call "toe socks" about 4 inches long. They seem to stay in place, protecting my toes and leaving my heels free.

Good for you finding a solution to the sock problem!

I have some like the ones in your picture, Ruthanne. They are deliberately mismatched, same lively colors but not identical. I think it's a dumb idea for us to alway wear two matching socks, anyway. How did that get started? Gloves, also. Maybe I should start a new fashion trend?

Sounds cool to me!

Fleece socks are popular here, and are soft and roomy and comfy. Not tight on my ankles or my boney toes, not form fitting. Not itchy. ;)
And machine washable, making them easy, but I am NOT intending this to be a commercial ad for them!

I used to wear wool ones, but eventually they became itchy for me, so I had to give them up.
:ROFLMAO:

i wear socks in the winter with my boots, i buy just the plain black thin ones, and as soon as i get home, off they come....i like bare feet..... !

I absolutely love socks. I also wear an over sized pair to bed. I bought a pair a long time ago that are lined with fleece. I think they were used by hunters in their boots. I love them so much that
I've darned them several times.
It would have to be a very dress up occasion for me not to wear my socks even then I'd probably try and get away with a thin black pair.

Dunno if it's the same in the USA but as well as odd socks being a fashion here, also odd shoes are the latest fad too....

Kaila, 😁 !

I don't know if I'd be happy with the "odd shoes," Holly. I imagine they would feel different, as they have to be slightly different heights, the soles are worn down to different degrees, etc. Seems to me it could throw your whole body off.

But socks are a different story. If they are the same thickness, etc., why not wear one of each color? I haven't seen anyone doing that; maybe that fashion hasn't made it across the Atlantic yet.

I've never tried them in fleece but believe you that they are good!
