Solved my telemarketing problem

I've complained about it so often on the board, probably too often. Over 2 yrs ago, I ordered prescribed meds from Canada because of the savings. I've been bombarded with what seems like 1,000 phone calls from East India peddling their drugs since then... lots of e-mails as well, but they're not nearly as disruptive.

After receiving 4 this morning, and at wits end, I changed my phone number to an unlisted one. My cable company did it for free given the circumstances. It's a big deal for me, as I've had this number forever and letting everyone know is a huge hassle. I just couldn't take it any longer, as many as 35-40 per wk, from 9 to 9. Can't tell you how good I feel about the wall of protection I have now and it's going to take a gun to make me give the number to anyone other than family & friends. I was at their mercy far too long and so glad to be rid of them!

That is a real pain.....I get 2or 3 calls a day which I won't answer.
they are international, so who knows what they are about?
glad you have solved your problem...

I AM LIVID!!! I just got another call from East India. What the hell is going on? The cable company assured me this wouldn't happen. I'm not quick to anger, but I could spit nails!

The cold calls dropped off here when I got on the Do Not Call register but a few still get through. The Windows scammers are my bugbear at present. All these polite Indian gents with names like Darren trying to do me the favour of fixing bugs in my Microsoft system. Sometimes I 'play' with them before a shredding but lately I just say 'Oh it's you again? Didn't you fix that problem yesterday?" that works, they tick quietly for 3 seconds and hang up.

We ordered from the same company. They are relentless in their calling. From now on, if I don't recognize the phone number, I answer "Mike's Pizzeria, can I take your order?" and it at least befuddles them!

My mind is still boggled at the idea of ordering prescription drugs from a foreign country.
I take mine directly from the doctor's to the local pharmacy.
I wouldn't dream of doing anything else.

My wife ordered ampicillin or something like that just once. Bad choice - never again. Drugs purchased in Mexico is very common here in the States - but I'm with you, I want nothing to do with it.

When my doctor prescribes something for me, he advises of possible side effects and takes periodic blood tests to make sure my liver and kidneys are not adversely affected. I don't even take over the counter drugs or supplements without his approval.

That's what I do as well for the meds insurance covers. At the time I needed Restasis (sp?) daily for my eyes...$250/month and I was on Lyrica daily for about 6 months...can't remember the cost, but outrageously expensive because insurance won't pay a penny in some cases -- mine was one of those cases.

These are licensed reputable pharmacies in Canada who require a prescription and they aren't giving my phone number out. It's the drug companies who produce the meds who are passing it around, But the meds are FDA approved and cost less than half as much via Canada, and the reason that I would still be doing it if I should need those meds again.
