Some Lost Fizzy Drinks

In the U.S., Fizzies were also a tablet added to water that produced an effervescent drink. They were invented in 1957 and were a cultural icon for some time, marketed for children and available in a variety of fruit flavors. At one point, Fizzies outsold Kool-Aid. One spoke of having a “happy fizzies party.” The product was eventually discontinued then resurrected several times…

I do remember Fizzies.

Does anyone remember S & OK soda? It was regional and popular in an area where my family vacationed when I was a child and I loved it because there were so many more flavors than we had at home. Does anyone know if it still exists? I don't drink soda anymore but am nostalgic.

I don't drink soda except for ginger beer in an occasional Moscow Mule, but when I was a kid, I loved Frank's Black Cherry Wishniack Soda. It came out in 1974 and was a regional favorite in the northeastern USA. Frank’s also had a great cream soda, a pretty famous birch beer, and other flavored sodas, but the Black Cherry Wishniak was the stuff of legends.

This bottle is for sale on WorthPoint.

I was in college when fizzies were still popular. I had a hiking buddy and we used to speculate the invention of Beer Fizzies for overnight back packing trips. But apparently you can't dehydrate alcohol, because when you do, you just get alcohol, which is what a distilled alcohol like whisky is. So we just brought whisky.
