Some old telephone ads

Growing up, we only had black phones. Colored phones were more expensive. There was a special monthy charge for colored phones. Black phones worked just as good a colored ones. That's what my dad said.
There's a lot to be said about those days of old, for one didn't need to stand and ponder for minutes, hours, and days over what style to get, what colour to get, or what brand to get.

That video showing How to Dial your phone caught my attention!
Interesting thread!

Phones were an expensive things in my youth. One thing that i could never understand was the monthly fee for a colored phone. If you had a "burnt orange" (hey, it was the 70s) phone, there was an extra monthly fee for having a colored phone. The plastic was clear, when it was made. They had to add black dye to make it black, just as they had to add dye to make it orange- so why the extra monthly fee? They didn't have to keep adding dye to keep it orange???????
I hated the phone company. They were like some lord, and we were its serfs.
Life is full of questions.
