Some Outrageous Watches

When looking at something like that variety of watches, I'm reminded of how much talent there is in our world. The skill to design & manufacture those boggles my mind.

I don't own anything like those mine is very basic It is round with numbers, a second hand, a minute hand & the small one that lets me know what hour it is.
 

My dad purchased a cheap, $5 watch from one of those steel mesh sales bins in Woolco one year, and he said not only did it fit him more comfortably than any watch he ever owned, it kept the best time compared to any of his pricier dress watches. Go figure...

It can actually be more difficult to read the time on a multi-dial watch, but some people love gadgets, and the more intricate and unusual the better. If a watch can tell me the time, day, and date I'm well satisfied, but there are those who sport Rolexes costing thousands of dollars. It becomes more about show than function at that point...
 
I don't have an iPhone or or any other phone, so I wear a wrist watch still.
Everyone I know has an iPhone andquyit wearing or carrying watches. I
thought surely one of these days these phones will make the watch obsolete.
Maybe not.

Or maybe the Apple watch is trying to make the iPhone obsolete .. lol

My brothers live in a different state. My older brother ( now passed) is ten years older. My younger brother is 10 years younger than me. A few years ago, at Xmas, all three of us showed up wearing the exact same Seiko watch. It is an obscure model, because of its features. They made very few of them. It was strange we had the very same weird watch.
 
I alternate between 3 watches .. all of which are at least 10 yrs. old. Because I only wear them when I go out, I pull out the stems to save the batteries.

My hubby wears the Seiko that my late brother-in-law was given from Japan in the 80's. It keeps perfect time.

I love seeing the design of the upscale watches .. a bit difficult to tell time with some of the one's that show the inner workings though.
 
For years I’d only have a Citizen Quartz that is powered by solar. For some reason my old watch batteries would always quit when I was travelling.

Now I have an Apple Watch in case of an emergency. When I fell recently, it knew. I was fine, but appreciated that it reacted the way it did that I could have called for help.

I really can’t understand why younger people don’t wear watches. Don’t they care about time or getting there on it.

Most everyone has a cellphone .. which has the time on it.
I wear my watches as a fashion statement, besides the obvious reason.
My nephew's wife is on her second or third Apple Watch, and loves it.

Me too. I just don’t want to pull it out to check the time. Maybe checking the time on your phone gives you an excuse to see if someone sent you something too.
 
When I was getting prepped for a surgery, the nurse had to administer eye drops every 5 minutes. He’d pull out his iphone to check the time. Think of the germs on that phone. I hadn’t noticed him doing this, DH commented to me afterwards.
