Some people are huggers, some are not.

I'm from a predominantly male household. (Much like the family in the film, The Accidental Tourist).

There was no hugging. My father wouldn't allow it.

So I give a hands off vibe without even trying to.

I don't mind if people want to hug me but I most likely look a little uncomfortable.

I could probably count on one hand the number of times people wanted to hug me.

If we like each other YES YES YES
His parents are surprised my grandson and I 🤗 hug in long embrace when saying goodbye.

The hippies and politicos ALWAYS HUGGED a lot. Does anyone besides me remember the affection that we had for each other??

Then we got old?? Forgot to smile on our brother? Experience taught you otherwise?

Within our family we are huggers. Never parting without a hug and expression of love. When it comes to persons not in the family or at least long term friends I'm not comfortable with hugs.

The Spousal Equivalent tells me that I will talk to a post and hug a street sign.

Here's an example: last year, we were staying in a hotel and I had gone down to breakfast first. I started talking to the desk clerk, a young man, and we got into quite a conversation, which turned to people we had lost (he had just lost his beloved grandmother) and before we knew it, we were both tearing up. He said, "I just have to give you a hug, Miss Jujube" and came around the corner and we hugged.

We were hugging and the Spousal Equivalent stepped out of the elevator. When I joined him in the breakfast room, he said, "Well, I'm sure there is quite the story about finding you in a clinch with the desk clerk, but I think I need my coffee before you get started on it.".

I strongly believe in the healing properties of a nice warm hug. There is something about being enveloped in loving arms. People need comfort.

My former son-in-law (who I am still close to) came from a cold, disengaged family. At first, when he was hugged by members of my family, he just stood there like a telephone post, not knowing what to do. In no time at all, he was a hugger himself and still is.

Huggers of the World...UNITE!!!
