Have u seen people set up outside of a grocery store with a violin or other instrument and a sign stating that they need help. They appear to play their instruments while music comes out of a large speaker. They're not actually playing the music, though. When the police or the store managers ask them to leave, the music is still playing but they are not holding their instruments. Scam scam scam

In the Miami public buses, back during 1975, I encountered this potbellied dude who kept belting out songs such as To Dream the Impossible Dream, Somewhere Over the Rainbow or Granada! His buddy, would reverently clap and nod his head in profound admiration after reach song. Then finally, after an extended dramatic pause, they would start passing the hat around with a belligerent expression on their faces which indicated that a monetary contribution was not optional but was considered mandatory, and that refusal would lead to physical harm.
