Don't Move To The Philippines Before You Hear This Sound Advice From A Local Woman

I'm sure there is other advice out there as well. This is a lengthy watch, but it should be entertaining enough to get through it.

There are probably risks no matter what foreign countries retirees decide to go to. It's critical to research all aspects of life (wherever), go for a visit and stay there for a couple of months (at least), if at all possible...to get the lay of the land. My Honorary Son who is thinking seriously about moving to Mexico told me that there's a company that assists wannabe ex-pats with all aspects of making the transition to their new location, but I don't remember the name of the company.

I was just talking to Siri! Asked her if I could get Social Security and what is the situation with taxes if I should decide to live outside of the USA. What about doing volunteer work with a stipend in a foreign land? Does it go towards SS?
Obviously, she told me to consult a tax consultant and gave me very generic answers. (which is what I expect from a chat bot).
Wondering what people think of this? Love to get all and any feedback!!

As US citizen you are required to declare your world wide income on your annual tax return. The outcome depends on tax treaties being in place.
Depending on visa and country you may not be able to volunteer or earn income.

You're forgetting something. Many men believe that foreign women make better wives.
Some men are only to eager to believe that a much younger woman of some Asian countries marries them for love.

But in many cases they only must get a living for their family and often her own children who stay in their home country.

Such a relationship only for money call I prostitution and this with or without marriage.

We have friends in Germany and in the US with Philippine mail order brides. Hard working women who handle jobs outside the home, are educated and take care of their families.

Several of my best friends are Vietnamese, Thai or Philippine.

If some old geezer can't think straight it is always the some woman's fault.

Two decades ago in Frankfurt (Germany) a very young Asian woman cut off the p.nis of her old German husband. He died of blood loss. As the police came she still hold the knife and was very agitated.

Thanks so much. I will look into it further but great advice.

got a mate living in Thailand since our retirements - he is surrounded [so he says] by younger nubile girls who do his cooking ; cleaning ; massaging and another general entertainment - living the dream as some would say heh??

language barrier.
All English speaking countries have high cost of living. So if you are moving overseas for the sake of cheaper retirement living, you most likely would have language barrier, which is a major concern.

Always wanted to live in Nova Scotia for a few months and then return to the states. With all the chaos going on today, I might be deported to Canada and I'm an American citizen!!

LanaMia. American citizens CAN visit Canada without the need for a Visa, for up to 183 days, in any 12 month period of time. Under this agreement, the American citizen cannot.....work for pay, attend any type of school, or use any of our social services benefits. You would need to buy private medical insurance coverage for the period of time that you would be in Canada. As of today's date. your US Dollar is worth about $1.38 Canadian, so your money goes a lot farther up here.

Canadians are deeply offended by the actions of the current U.S. government, but we are still open for travelers from the USA to come and enjoy our vast and beautiful nation. JIM.

Can you please give an official link detailing the requirement of purchasing private medical insurance while a US citizen is in Canada on vacation?
