Some Stores Seem To Have Better Employees Than Others. Is it just me?

Going back decades, I can't think of any store employees I've had issues with. But then I'm not the kind of customer that expects to ask questions nor am likely to have to talk about much of anything at checkouts. My shopping tends to be limited to groceries and usual consumables with anything of importance likely ordered through amazon. About the only time I need to ask someone something is when product is above where I can reach on a top shelf or behind a locked security area. Or I'm at the sandwich deli counter and request something like a fried chicken wing. Otherwise nothing of note has bothered me. But then our county has one of the highest percentage of immigrants in the US so many working in stores have limited English skills and when they are confused, it is not something I would be annoyed over.

@Packerjohn It really makes you feel bad when that happens. That move was after I sold the house, was stressful and I didn't move as much myself as I should have. They didn't get any boxes with the cat figures I've collected for years. They got my dishes. I know I packed things in vintage linens and towels so they got that also. Terrible to think but yes, it could have been worse.

I probably never will move long distance but I've thought, if I ever did, it would be cheaper to rent a U-Haul, take what I can myself. Take my small furniture, my antique side table and shelf. And all the big stuff, donate. It would be safer and cheaper to re-buy dressers and other stuff than have a long haul mover take my stuff.

You are right Remy. When I was younger I never hired anyone. In the prime of my life, when I was young and full of zip and vinegar I always rented a 26 foot U-Haul and did it myself. I was married that time and my wife was a big help. I moved from Manitoba to Alberta to BC and then back to Alberta and finally, after having enough of the "promised land" I ended back in "Friendly" Manitoba. All done with 26 foot U-Haul Trucks. We always took the dishes and the fragile things in a car.

I very seldom had anything broken and I never had anything stolen. Now, at the mercy of the moving companies, things are a lot more stressful. Oh well, only 21 more boxes to open and it will all be a memory and as they say, "a done deal."
