Somehow we all survived

Today society pampers us like we were little babies and haven't a clue how to live. Hey, no matter how much they try to protect the weak and the clueless, Covid19 comes around or perhaps Monkeypox and still gets 'em. The government is constantly putting more and more restrictions, rules and regulations on us and we, like the good sheep, that we are mostly follow. Sometimes, the rules do make sense and are good but often it is the opposite. Now, with technology, Big Brother and Big Sister will be watching to make sure that YOU follow those rules OR ELSE!

Yeah, it's amazing how we all survived childhood without internet, streaming, cell phones, Alexa, and the rest of the smart electronics. Maybe they can come up with technology to teach today's kids how to interact with people without electronics. Wouldn't that be interesting... a kid who looks you in the eyes and speaks to you instead of staring at their phones as if you weren't standing in front of them?

I met them. And their mom. They were the "best" teenagers I ever met - intelligent, caring for family and animals, calm, content, patient, strong of body and mind, no shots causing brain-death, no electronics causing brain-fog, no wasting any time on television or internet or phones.
Other parents constantly make excuses for their brain-injured , dis-obedient children,
but the parents of these two teens didn't have to say anything at all - their children are the brightest of the bright, a light in a world of darkness, and observers of them note this soon, but not too many parents have the integrity nor the courage nor the wisdom to do the same for their own family.

True, abused children often become too timid to open their mouths... unless they eventually become violent toward someone else who is smaller and weaker.

My post and the thread, I thought, has nothing to do with nor about abused children at all.
I was referring to the harm caused by allowing television, telephones and media/internet when it is not part of the disciplined training and education.
The most common "brain-injury" is from drugs, immunizations, and electronics. From trusting the authorities also.
After wwII, from milk, flour and sugar - processed foods then thru today. msg, soda, cigarettes, alcohol, artificial sweeteners, fake food, etc ...
And mal-nutrition, from 'dead' foods not having any value, or little value.

Alligator "hunting", shark fishing, snake collecting, camping without adult supervision, and lots of other stuff by age 12.

Kept drinking untreated water from streams and ponds into early adulthood.

And still alive to tell the tail. I think we tend to be too protective of kids today, they are missing out. Then video games might have more to do with that.

Living in Florida I was outdoors every minute I could be, the weather was very cooperative. I sometimes wonder what I would have done had video games and the internet been around. Probably the same things kids do now...

Untreated water without poisons in it is better than poisoned water that gets treated, for drinking purposes, bathing, and so on, right ?
Water used to be 'safe' , compared to even tap water today.

Other than the "used to be" part- as in some places it's been going on for a very long time- I must agree with you 100% on this.
(sorry I'm not exactly with-it this morning, didn't intend to double-post)

When I was in elementary school, I did something very bad. So, my teacher gave me 20 straps on my left hand and then another 20 on my right hand. Did I cry to "mommy and daddy?" No, I was a bad little boy and I deserved it but you know I grew up and I know right from wrong.

Sometimes, I wonder, with all the cuddling going by parents, teachers and our government why there is so much violence and mass shootings? There is something very wrong with our society but since no one will admit it and try to find out what is wrong, the violence and the mass shootings will go on and on.
